While Doom Patrol absolutely wowed with its debut season, the series has now moved to add a first new casting addition to its second year.

Via TVLine, Abigail Shapiro has joined Doom Patrol as Dorothy Spinner, the daughter to Timothy Dalton’s Chief. A relative newcomer, the 19-year-old actress will be playing Dorothy as an 11-year-old in the show.

The character of Dorothy technically appeared during the first season’s final episode, and the official description for the character reads:

Niles loves her very much and has gone through great sacrifice to protect her, and the world, from her special abilities. Now that she is no longer hidden, Niles will go to even greater lengths to protect her.

Dorothy is indeed a character pulled straight from the world of DC Comics, with her debuting in 1998’s Doom Patrol #14. Born with a facial deformity that gives her an ape-like appearance, Dorothy’s unique abilities allow her to bring her imaginary friends to life.

Season 2 of Doom Patrol will debut on DC Universe and HBO Max towards the end of this year.
