With Star Trek confirmed for a new upcoming TV series, it looks as if genre fans could be treated to a new Star Wars show in the future as well.

ABC’s Channing Dungey has revealed that the network has held talks with Lucasfilm about developing a Star Wars-based series, with him telling EW, “We have had conversations with them and will continue to have conversations with them. I think it would be wonderful if we could find a way to extend that brand into our programming. It’s all a little bit hush-hush. That company exists under a big shroud of secrecy. If you feel Marvel’s secretive, Lucasfilm takes it to a while other level. Talks are ongoing. We don’t have an official timeline yet.”

Of course, the animated Star Wars Rebels is getting set to air its third season later this year, whilst Disney XD also has LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, but this would be the first live-action TV presence since Star Wars: Holiday Special back in 1978. No details whatsoever are known at this point in terms of when the series would be set, were it would be set, or which characters would be featured.

As ever, expect more on this as and when it develops.
