In some interesting
news, it looks as if there’s still a chance that Jose Padilha’s opinion-splitting RoboCop could
still get itself a sequel.

Den
of Geek
is reporting the news, claiming that a sequel to the 2014 redo
could happen down to China. When the film was released, it ended up grossing
$50 million in China. As a result, options are being looked at from Sony to
potentially co-produce a sequel with a Chinese firm, with claims that any
sequel could even partly take place in China.

One sticking point, however, is that star Joel Kinnaman has
a contract with Warner Brothers to reprise the role of Rick Flag as and when needed. Kinnaman is set to debut as Flag,
of course, in next year’s Suicide
Squad
.

Whether a RoboCop sequel
ever happens, we’ll have to wait and see, but expect more on this as and when
anything concrete does develop.
