Genre publishing power-house Abaddon Books have announced on their blog that they are open for submissions.

Abaddon is part of the Rebellion group, the same people who own 2000AD, the Galaxy’s Greatest Comic. Abaddon specialises in genre literature, producing books based on specific worlds that they have created. They also produce the JUDGE DREDD and STRONTIUM DOG novels. Their authors include the likes of Chuck Wendig, Al Ewing, Dan Abnett, Si Spurrier and Sarah Cawkwell.

Those who want to be amongst such august company need to prepare a 150-word “elevator pitch” for a 30,000 word novella set in one of Abaddon’s established worlds, specifically: THE AFTERBLIGHT CHRONICLES, TOMES OF THE DEAD, WEIRD SPACE or GODS & MONSTERS. Abaddon will also accept pitches for entirely new worlds, though it must be something they don’t cover in their existing catalogue.

In addition to the elevator pitch, potential authors must also produce a 1,000-word chapter-by-chapter breakdown and a 2,000-word writing sample.

The window for submissions opens at midnight on January 14th, 2015 and closes at midnight on February 15th, 2015. The work should be sent to [email protected].  Those interested in writing for Abaddon should read the official announcement here before getting started.
