“Chewbacca is back and this time he has brought some Wookie friends. The hairy hero has been spotted across the galaxy joined by rebel allies for you to find. But beware! The following locations also hide enemies from the Empire and First Order.” Ok, it may not have much in way of plot, but the somewhat awkwardly-titled Where’s the Wookiee? 2 is still one of the more entertaining Star Wars spinoffs that we’ve seen in a while.

As the title suggests it’s: a) Where’s Wally, but with Chewbacca and therefore instantly better, and b) a sequel to 2016’s Where’s the Wookiee? Everyone’s favourite Wookiee is hidden in 15 different locations from the Star Wars universe, and you’ve got to find him.

The locations cover the first eight films (no Last Jedi previews unfortunately), with the emphasis firmly on the new movies. Jedha, Saw Gerrera’s Hideout and Scarif from Rogue One put in appearances, and no fewer than five (Nima Outpost, the Eravana, Maz Kanata’s castle, Starkiller and the Resistance bases) from The Force Awakens. The original and prequel trilogies, which were the focus of the first book, are relegated to three locations each, as well as an appearance from Star Wars Rebels’ Lothal.

Besides the galaxy’s greatest walking carpet, there’s a selection of other wookiees hidden throughout the pages (no Lumpy unfortunately), as well as a variety of other characters to find. While most of these are appropriate to the locations – such as Dooku in the droid factory Leia on the Resistance base – there’s a few fun random ones thrown in for good measure, such as Ahsoka in Otoh Gunga or Bib Fortuna showing up at Carkoon.

Besides the characters, there are plenty of fun details to see while you’re searching. The locations themselves are beautifully, humorously illustrated, and packed with fun little details. Our favourites include the baby Hutt on Jabba’s barge and the plethora of Star Wars creatures than Han keeps alongside rathtars on the Eravana.

While the book’s supposedly aimed at kids, (rumour has it Star Wars and Where’s Wally are too, but we don’t believe it) it will keep adults entertained for hours also. It may not be quite as hard as some of the Where’s Wally books, but – for the Star Wars obsessed – is far more entertaining.
