After years of rumours flying around as to who might take up the X-Men mantle in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, fans received answers at D23.
The movie will star Sadie Sink as Jean Grey (revealed already in Spider-Man: Brand New Day), Heartstopper’s Kit Connor as Cyclops, indie darling and Wolfman actor Christopher Abbott as Professor X, scream queen Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Obsession breakout star Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Broadway star Maya Boyd as Storm. Adam Driver is also among the cast, not as Magneto (as many have speculated), but as the villain Mr. Sinister.
The film also landed a release date of May 5th, 2028.
Directing is Thunderbolts*/ The New Avengers helmer Jack Schreier. At D23, Kevin Feige nonetheless made sure to caution the audience that this was not the complete casting line-up for the forthcoming MCU entry.
Elsewhere in the multiverse, we will soon be seeing another iteration of the X-Men in Avengers: Doomsday, with Patrick Stewart returning as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, James Marsden as Cyclops, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, and Kelsey Grammer as Beast. In addition, Channing Tatum returns as Gambit for the first time since his introduction in Deadpool & Wolverine.
