horror picks

Well, we’ve had enough of the heat now so we’re more than happy to veg out in front of the TV.  Here are some great reasons to stay inside, our picks for the next seven days on Horror Channel…

Tuesday July 27th, 1pm – Doomwatch (1972)

Fantastic spin-off from a hit British TV series. Way ahead of its time with its eco concerns, the film version stars Ian Bannen (Fright) and Judy Geeson (Inseminoid) and was directed by Hammer regular Peter Sasdy. It makes a fantastical case against pollution if nothing else.

Wednesday July 28th, 9pm – Rabid (2019)

Another chance to catch The Soska Sisters’ reimagining of David Cronenberg’s classic tale of body horror. A fashion designer, hideously disfigured in a road accident, is given a new lease of life with a ground-breaking surgical procedure. Unfortunately, there are consequences to her new-found beauty.

Friday July 30th, 10.55pm – Rogue (2017)

This snappy Australian indie certainly has plenty of bite. A giant man-eating crocodile that terrorises a group of tourists Down Under. Being an Aussie film, it naturally stars John Jarratt, but also has roles for Michael Vartan (Alias) and Mia Wasikowska (Alice in Wonderland). Warning: contains Sam Worthington.

Saturday July 31st, 9pm – Sinister (2012)

Scott Derrikson’s massive hit boasts a creepy supernatural story involving Ethan Hawke discovering some Super 8 films in an attic that may show actual murders.

Sunday August 1st, 10.55pm – 100 Bloody Acres (2012)

It’s back Down Under, this time to meet a pair of blood and bone fertiliser manufacturers who inadvertently find that rather than rely on livestock and roadkill, humans are the perfect recipe for their business model. Both shocking and hilarious, this is an indie gem you shouldn’t miss.

Tune into Horror Channel on Sky 317, Virgin 149, Freeview 68, Freesat 138.
