Today brings word from FOX and DC Entertainment that RUSH’s Tom Ellis has landed the lead role in the upcoming LUCIFER series.

After his debut in SANDMAN, the Lucifer character was spun-off to his own titular solo title in 2000, which would run for 75 issues until 2006. The TV series will pull inspiration from this, seeing Lucifer bored with life as the Lord of Hell and so he gives up his crown and moves to Los Angeles. From there, he helps the LAPD punish criminals.

FOX has already placed an order for a pilot episode, with UNDERWORLD director and SLEEPY HOLLOW co-creator Len Wiseman overseeing the project and Jerry Bruckheimer serving as an executive producer.
