As we close in on 2015, one of the biggest years for superhero films, casting news is hotting up. Marvel recently confirmed Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson to have roles in AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON as Scarlet Witch and Quiksilver. Also we know (and have known for a while) that Ben Affleck is set to play Batman is BATMAN VS SUPERMAN. So in the coming months we’re bound to get spoilt with more fantastic, and sometimes surprising casting news. Either way people love a bit of casting gossip.

The latest rumours are coming in for Marvels ANT-MAN directed by Edgar Wright. According to reports, there are two men who are in the top running to play Henry Pym – Paul Rudd and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Gordon-Levitt has been linked with almost every recent superhero film, so no doubt he’s just a standard name to drop in to any future un-cast characters.

Paul Rudd, however, is a new name to the action hero scene. The ANCHORMAN actor has gained popularity playing comedic roles and doesn’t have any definitive action under his belt, but that’s never stopped Marvel before. It’s never stopped Wright before either (just look at Michael Cera in SCOTT PILGRIM). If Rudd were to be chosen as the size-changing hero it is doubtless he’ll bring his comedic charm to Ant-Man. A tone that Wright is likely to want from the film.

All that’s left now is for rumours to flood in on the casting of Henry Pym’s other half, Janet van Dyne aka The Wasp (Rashida Jones apparently…)

ANT-MAN is written by Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish, and is released hot off the heels of AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON on July 31 2015.
