After some brilliant test footage leaked online earlier this year, this week saw the confirmation that 20th Century Fox are moving forward with DEADPOOL, setting a February 12th, 2016 release for the Ryan Reynolds-starrer. Whilst that had us hugely excited, now comes some news that’s a tad disappointing. Yes, it appears that the very adult Deadpool character will star in a PG-13 movie.

A source at MeetTheMoviePress reported, “I heard from the director that they finally figured out the script and it was right before this was announced. The figured out how to make it PG-13.”

Now we’re clinging on to the fact that this has yet to be confirmed by Fox, although it definitely seems likely that a PG-13 movie is the way that the studio would go, given how the adult-themed Punisher movies never really did much in terms of box office and numbers, then the was the more recent poor return on KICK-ASS 2. Additionally, Rob Liefeld, creator of Deadpool, has said that the studio has never seriously considered any approach other than a PG-13 film.

If we’re honest, some of that initial excitement about this movie has waned at this news, although we’re still hoping for something special from the merc with a mouth.
