The last time cinema audiences got a good look at the UK’s self-proclaimed City of Dreams, Milton Keynes was pretending to be Metropolis in the ill-thought-through SUPERMAN IV: THE QUEST FOR PEACE. Now, 27 years on, MK is finally getting its own screen time in the upcoming sci-fi indie feature, 2025.

The ambitious project which promises mystery, intrigue, family and technology all set just ten years from now comes from Brit award-winning scriptwriter Linda Dunscombe and indie filmmaker Dave Moyle, and features a bright cast of up-and-coming actors. Lisa Ronaghan (CALL THE MIDWIFE) stars along with Bryn Hodgen, Francesca Louise White and STARBURST’s very own Grant Kempster as Andrew Carter.

I think the most interesting thing about 2025 is the technology,’ Kempster explains. ‘It drives everything from the plot to our own interest as an audience. It’s a glimpse into our future, and to be honest, it’s not all that bright.

Filming begins in October, and while the film is already funded, there is (of course) a crowd-funding campaign, which offers everything from Blu-ray and 4K copies of the film, to VIP visits and even parts in the film.

We shoot in less than a month which is really exciting,’ Grant continues. ‘But what would be even more exciting is if people got involved through Indiegogo and helped punch some of the more expensive sequences up to 11. It’s also a great excuse for anyone who loves filmmaking to jump on board and help make what will be an amazing film into something really special.
