It was 6 months ago that we first heard that NBC were making plans to include Papa Midnite in their CONSTANTINE series. Now comes word from USA Today that the relatively-unknown Michael James Shaw has been cast as the character in the upcoming Hellblazer show.

Created by Jamie Delano and John Ridgway, voodoo-empowered necromancer Papa Midnite debuted back in HELLBLAZER #1. He was also seen in the Keanu Reeves-starring 2005 CONSTANTINE movie, played by Djimon Hounsou.

Starring Matt Ryan as the titular character and with Neil Marshall directing the pilot, CONSTANTINE will premiere in the US on 24th October. In the UK, the show has been picked up by Channel 5.
