DIRK GENTLY to Return

TV News

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Max Landis (CHRONICLE and 2015’s VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN) will adapt the Douglas Adams DIRK GENTLY stories for a new TV series. The rights are currently held by IDW and Ideate Media.

Landis is quoted as saying, “I'm a lifelong fan, LONG DARK TEATIME OF THE SOUL (the second DIRK GENTLY novel) is one of the best books ever.” He also goes on to talk about Douglas Adams as a visionary who influenced our whole culture.

Lesser known, perhaps, is David Ozer of IDW, who was a friend and protégé of Douglas Adams who as a student in Oxford directed and co-wrote an adaptation of DIRK GENTLY which Adams himself came to see.

This is not the first time that DIRK GENTLY will have been adapted for television with the BBC running a series between 2010 and 2012 with Stephen Mangan in the role. Prior to that Harry Enfield played Dirk in radio adaptations of the two Douglas Adams novels.

No news yet as to when this will completed, nor of any casting.
