 Fargo

TV spin-off shows have littered the (not-so-small) screen for decades now, from STARGATE SG1 to THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES, but it was easy to get sniffy when a series based on the Coen Brothers’ darkly comic noir FARGO was in the works. However, the show was a huge success; boasting strong performances from a solid cast, great music, locations, and a tight, well-plotted script. It’s little surprise that FX have picked up the show for a second series.

So what the heck are we talking about here? The second series will shift the focus to 1979, focussing on Keith Carradine’s character, Lou Solverson, a 33-year-old cop back from fighting in Vietnam. Molly, who was one of the highlights of the first series, will only be four years old and we’ll discover what happened to her mother. We suspect it’s grisly.

The second series will reference the first, in as much as that it’ll explore the Sioux Falls incidence touched on by Lou in the ninth episode, A FOX, A RABBIT, AND A CABBAGE, and take direct influence from the Coen’s own FARGO, MILLER'S CROSSING and THE MAN WHO WASN'T THERE.

The second series won’t be making an appearance until at least the latter half of next year. There’s no news as yet regarding a UK release date, or whether it’ll air on Channel 4. More details as we hear them.
