LOVEFiLM Pilot News

LOVEFiLM, a division of Amazon, has released ten pilots for upcoming exclusives. All ten are produced solely by Amazon Studios for LOVEFiLM Instant in the UK and Amazon Prime instant across the pond.

While all ten have their merits, including BOSCH, based on Michael Connelly’s detective novels, one in particular has piqued interest. THE AFTER is written and directed by X-FILES maestro Chris Carter. The series revolves around eight characters brought together by seemingly mysterious forces, and required to help one another in order to survive against the inexplicable.

There’s even something for the kids with the animated HARDBOILED EGGHEADS and THE MAKER SHACK AGENCY. Pre-schoolers also get a treat with THE JO B. AND G. RAFF SHOW and WISHENPOOF, from Angela Santamera, creator of BLUE’S CLUES.

Viewers are able to offer immediate feedback, influencing the direction and future of the shows, a far-cry from the usual small and unreliable test audiences. The future of TV is looking and more and more likely to become predominantly streaming based. The Sky box may become a thing of the past, with smart TVs taking their place. With regular batches of shows being made, catering to (most) people’s tastes, would that be such a bad thing?

If it has a web connection you can probably get access to the pilots. Which one’s your favourite?
