With this current season of ARROW throwing up all kinds of DC characters, regular talk of the League of Assassins and Ra’s Al Ghul prompted fans to get excited at the prospect of seeing the Demon’s Head appear in the show. Sadly, there’s not going to be any Ra’s (not at this point, at least), but late last year brought confirmation that his daughter, Nyssa Al Ghul would be appearing. IGN have now dropped the first images of Katrina Law as Nyssa, as shown above and below.

IGN also grabbed a word with the show’s executive producer, Andrew Kreisberg, who discussed Nyssa’s upcoming role. He said, “Our Nyssa certainly has shades of Talia. Katrina auditioned for Shado and it actually came down to Katrina and Celina [Jade] and honestly, part of it was just that because we knew she’d have scenes with Slade [Manu Bennett], and it just felt like a SPARTACUS overkill. But she’s somebody that we’ve been a fan of. When this part came up, we saw a lot of people for it, but she certainly is exotic an beautiful and smart and our stunt guys are over the moon, because she can do a lot of her own stunts. Nyssa is the next wave of the League of Assassins that comes to Starling City. But she has some interesting secrets as well…”

In terms of the SPARTACUS overkill, Katrina Law and Manu Bennett both appeared in that show together.

Nyssa Al Ghul will debut in the 13th episode of Season 2, titled HEIR TO THE DEMON, which airs next Wednesday in the US. The official synopsis for that episode reads:

“As Laurel continues to unravel, Oliver and Lance try to convince Sara (guest star Caity Lotz) to stay in Starling City and finally reunite with Laurel and Dinah (guest star Alex Kingston). However, Sara’s fellow League of Assassins member, Nyssa (guest star Katrina Law, SPARTACUS), comes to bring Sara back to the fold, but when Sara refuses, Nyssa kidnaps Dinah. Realizing she’s putting her family in danger by staying in town, Sara considers re-joining the league.”

We know that Alex Kingston was returning as Dinah Lance at some point, and this confirms the reason for her return to Starling City.

Before that, expect to see a review of Season 2, Episode 12, TREMORS, later today.
