Syfy’s upcoming series DOMINION, a spin off from 2010 action film LEGION, has had a brief teaser trailer released and a vague release date of June 2014 announced.

Starring Christopher Egan (RESIDENT EVIL: EXTINCTION), Tom Wisdom (300), Roxanne McKee (GAME OF THRONES), Alan Dale (LOST), Anthony Stewart Head (BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER) and Luke Allen-Gale (THE BORGIAS), the series takes place in the year 25 AE (After Extinction? Anno Exodus? Angelic Emigration? Apocalypse Everafter?), where the world is now a battle-scarred wasteland. For a quarter of a century eternal warfare has raged, with the archangel Michael fighting alongside humanity against the archangel Gabriel and his army of lower angels attempting to wipe them out. Mankind now survives only in isolated fortress cities, and in the largest of these, Vega (formerly Las Vegas), a power struggle between two rival factions is underway.

It would not be uncharitable to suggest that LEGION’s reception was less than positive, but its director Scott Stewart showed gradual improvement with PRIEST and DARK SKIES, and also directed the feature length pilot for DEFIANCE that the rest of the series never quite lived up to. Hopefully he will have learned from past mistakes and re-envisioned the angels to be more akin to Kevin Durand’s homicidal Gabriel as opposed to the glorified zombies that the rest of the heavenly host manifested as.
