So you think that George R.R. Martin’s GAME OF THRONES is just a work of fiction do you? A sequence of bestselling novels and a huge television hit? Well think again, for the fictional world of Westeros is more real than you suspect.

To mark the release of GAME OF THRONES Season 3 on DVD/Blu-ray the village of Kings Langley in Hertfordshire will change its name to Kings Landing - the name of the main city in the fantasy drama - for a week in February. According to The Watford Observer, an executive producer from the HBO show happened to hear the village listed as a stop whilst waiting for an InterCity train at London's Euston station. The canny producer had the idea of contacting the local council with the suggestion that the village be renamed, and so from February 17th Kings Langley will temporarily be known as Kings Landing. Dacorum Borough Council’s Susan Lea is hopeful that businesses and restaurants will get involved by holding their own GAME OF THRONES-themed promotions.

Season 3 of GAME OF THRONES will be available on DVD and Blu-ray from February 17th, with season four being broadcast on Sky Atlantic in the spring.
