TV News: New TERMINATOR Series to Link With Reboot

TV News

Recently we had a little taste of rumours surrounding the 2015 Terminator Reboot and the casting of Sarah Connors. Now we have news of Terminator coming to our televisions. Not only are we getting a double dose of the T-800, but apparently the two projects are going to be linked with the series leading straight to the film.

The series comes from X-Men: First Class writers Zack Stentz and Ashley Miller, who are also on board to produce. These two have Terminator experience with another small screen endeavour The Sarah Connors Chronicles, so James Cameron's original work is in good hands.

The report from Variety says a "critical moment" from the original Terminator film will be the point the series will be spring from. The moment in question is yet to be revealed:

'TV project is said to follow a critical moment from the first Terminator film — where the film’s story goes one way, the upcoming television show will take that same moment in a completely different direction.'

So, this moment is clearly a crucial one from which a completely different universe can be created. The whole 'alternate timeline' method of reboot worked for Star Trek, so there's no reason that it won't work for Terminator.

I think we can look forward to more news soon, as this Terminator series is due to come before the film. Time to dust off that Terminator DVD and start speculating on the critical moment.

How many more dead horses can Hollywood keep flogging? For God's sake, let this stuff go now and come up with some new ideas!!! Remakes, reboots, franchises, comic books, reimaginings...has the movie industry ever been in such an imaginatively- threadbare state??
