TV News

In a world where our entertainment is dominated by the US (with notable British exceptions and the odd French success story) it is refreshing to be able to report on a project to bring a Kenyan TV show to our screens. Usoni is the story of a future in which the sun has stopped shining on most of the world and Africa now enjoys a role as the only oasis left to a desolate Europe.

Obviously this is a play on the current situation where African refugees make increasingly desperate attempts to flee to Europe but the show has the potential to do more than just hold up a mirror to European history. If that is all it achieves, though, it will be no bad thing.

Created by Dr. Marc Rigaudis, produced by Denver Ochieng and directed by Cherie Lindiwe of the United States International University, Usoni is currently in pilot and is being tweaked ahead of a move to bring it to a wider audience and drum up the necessary interest to make the series.

If you’re interested there is an official trailer available (below) and the series has a facebook page and Twitter feed.
