With AMC having announced that the THE WALKING DEAD would be getting a spin-off companion series, TV Line is getting some details on the show. Their report claims that the new series “will be a prequel of sorts, one that would chronicle the early days of the epidemic and the effort to contain it.”

This is added to creator Robert Kirkman’s previous words to IGN, where he said, “It definitely won’t be set in Georgia. It’s important to us that this show exists on its own. The spin-off has to be a show worthy of existing, or else we’ve all sold out.”

It’ll be interesting to see just how far back this ‘prequel’ series will go. I can’t imagine it going right back to the source of the epidemic, but who knows.

Expect more on this as it develops.

As long as they don't go down the World War Z route I'll be happy.
