Original Wonder Woman actress, Lynda Carter, has given her thoughts on how DC’s iconic Amazon could be revived successfully as a viable movie /TV property.

She believes that previous attempts have failed due to the writers not understanding the heroine’s "sisterhood values".

Carter, who portrayed the titular character between 1975 and 1979, told Entertainment Tonight, "Maybe they need a female writer who gets it. I've often tried not to say that, but I think it's the truth. It's like, 'Hellooooo guys, get a female that understands what that's all about'. You look at any society that suppresses women, and it's violent. Look around the world… There's a humanity that they're missing. There's got to be a sweetness, a kindness, a goodness in the character. The rest takes care of itself."

There have been several aborted attempts to bring Wonder Woman back to the small screen in recent years. Joss Whedon tried to get a movie off the ground before walking away citing creative differences. Instead he ended up making a little movie for Marvel and we all know how that went. Perhaps the most infamous reboot was David E. Kelly’s version that got as far as the pilot stage before the plug was pulled on the series, and even The CW's Amazon project is still on-hold.

Perhaps Lynda Carter is right. It’s time for the feminine touch. DC comics scribe Gail Simone for instance.
