After the BBC released #thefourth, a cryptic teaser video featuring props and audio clips from Tom Baker’s much-loved era of DOCTOR WHO, it’s not surprising that fandom immediately got a little carried away with speculation. A new minisode featuring Baker himself? An appearance in the anniversary special? Baker to return as the twelfth Doctor, and to personally knit a replica scarf for every member of Gallifrey Base?

Four days later, the BBC have announced the true meaning of this video: it’s a limited edition ‘TIME CAPSULE’ box-set featuring the newly-restored TERROR OF THE ZYGONS, which will be released in full later this year, as well as a new interview with Baker, AN INTERVIEW WITH THE TIME LORD.

In true modern-day Who fashion, the hype was perhaps over-played here, and the box-set isn’t quite what some fans had in mind. Nevertheless, with a limited run of 5000, the set should be a treat for fans of the Fourth Doctor’s era.

As well as TERROR and the interview, the TIME CAPSULE includes:

  • An exclusive post-regenerative Fourth Doctor action figure, wearing Jon Pertwee’s trademark frill-fronted shirt.
  • A Fourth Doctor sonic screwdriver.
  • An audio version of classic Tom Baker story Genesis of the Daleks.
  • Novel Tomb of Valdemar by Simon Messingham, set during the Doctor’s search for the Key to Time.
  • Art cards of all the Fourth Doctor’s companions.
  • And a letter from Tom Baker himself.

THE FOURTH DOCTOR TIME CAPSULE is set to be be released on 29th July, and is available now to pre-order.
