The Exorcist

In news that’s enough to make your head spin, Morgan Creek are set to produce a ten-part series based on THE EXORCIST.

According to the folks at Vulture, writer/director Sean Durkin of the critically acclaimed cult drama MARTHA MARCY MAY MARLENE has been tasked with adapting the seminal film, which will expand on the story by exploring the effects such an event takes upon a family, before and after.

Durkin may have been heaped with praise for his directorial debut but is that enough to convince anybody this project should be attempted in the first place? Will the fact that he will also return to William Peter Blatty’s original source novel for inspiration validate it? It didn’t help Mick Garris when he re-adapted THE SHINING in 1997 (and that thing even had a Stephen King penned script!), so we can’t see this being greeted much differently to be honest.

THE EXORCIST will start to be shopped around US networks over the next couple of weeks. Stay tuned for more…
