Bad news for anyone looking forward to Seth Macfarlane’s reboot of THE FLINTSTONES (if there were any), it’s been announced that the project won't be appearing on our TV screens for a long while yet.

In a report by Deadline, it seems the ‘toon guru is understandably feeling the pressure of juggling his three shows currently in production, FAMILY GUY, THE CLEVELAND SHOW and AMERICAN DAD, as well as his upcoming directorial debut TED. 20th Century Fox and Warner Bros had scheduled THE FLINTSTONES to air in 2013, but as the series has yet to even begin production they’ve now pulled it in an amicable agreement with the MacFarlane.

Given the high-profile nature of the reboot, and MacFarlane’s passion for the project (he’s cited the ‘60s original as the inspiration for his career), it’s only a matter of time before work begins anew.

In the meantime, MacFarlane will also debut another new show, a reboot of the much-loved US documentary series COSMOS: A SPACE-TIME ODYSSEY. Strange choice, but colour us interested.

Seth MacFarlane’s live-action feature debut TED, staring Mark Whalberg as a slacker whose best friend is his sentient, foul-mouthed teddy bear opens August 3rd in the UK. You can catch up with the trailers HERE. It’s funnier than it sounds, trust us.

Upset by this news? Or should MacFarlane stick to telling dodgy jokes in his own universe? Share your musings in the Comments below or on Twitter @Starburst_Mag
