After a few delays, the premiere date has finally been announced CBS’ Star Trek Discovery.

As per the network, it’s been revealed that Discovery will officially premiere on Sunday, September 24th. In addition to the first episode airing on CBS, the first two episodes will be made available on CBS’ streaming service, CBS All Access, that same night, too.

The current plan in the US is for the show to initially premiere on CBS before the rest of the episodes are released weekly exclusively on the All Access service. This debut season will consist of fifteen episodes, with the final seven of these to air from January 2018 following a mid-season break of sorts. In the UK and a whole host of other non-North American countries, Star Trek Discovery will be housed on Netflix.

Plot-wise, the official synopsis for the series reads:

Star Trek Discovery will follow the voyages of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. The series will feature a new ship, new characters and new missions, while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.

The likes of Sonequa Martin-Green, Michelle Yeoh, Jason Isaacs, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapps, James Frain, and Rainn Wilson are on board to star in Discovery.
