With Marvel’s Inhumans having now put its cast together and started shooting, the upcoming series has finally been given an official synopsis.

As reported by SpoilerTV, the official blurb on this new show reads as below:

After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself.

While we do love our Manchester home here at STARBURST, there’s certainly far worse places to “barely escape to" than Hawaii…

Where the cast is concerned, taking the lead role of King Black Bolt in Marvel’s Inhumans is Hell on Wheels’ Anson Mount, whilst his bride, Medusa, will be played by TRON: Legacy’s Serinda Swan (who interestingly played the magical Zatanna in Smallville). As Black Bolt’s brother, Maximus, is none other than Iwan Rheon, best known for playing utter bastard Ramsay Bolton in Game of Thrones. Then there’s Lost’s Ken Leung as Minister Karnak. Where these characters are concerned, Black Bolt’s main ability is that a mere whisper from him can destroy an entire city, so powerful is his voice, while Medusa can control her hair with the same accuracy and precision as others have with their fingers. For Maximus, his abilities centre around mind control, and his loyalty to the Attilan people and his brother is commendable. As for Minister Karnak, his unique power is that he can see the fault in any and everything, be it people, plans, or anything else. Elsewhere, Eme Ikwuakor is playing Gorgon, Isabelle Cornish is Crystal, Mike Moh is Triton, Sonya Balmores is Auran, and Ellen Woglom has a to-be-revealed role.

The Inhumans as a group have been around in the comic book realm since 1965. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, the alien race all have their own unique powers. In more recent decades, their popularity and prominence in the Marvel Comics world has grown massively.

Marvel’s Inhumans will be made up of just eight episodes, and will premiere its two-part pilot in IMAX cinemas in September before heading to ABC for the rest of its run in the US. No details are known on where the show will call home in the UK at this early stage.
