Syfy’s upcoming adaptation of Image Comics’ Happy! has brought in Christopher Meloni to headline the series.

Deadline is reporting the news, with the Wet Hot American Summer and Man of Steel actor to take on the lead role of Nick Sax in the adaptation of Grant Morrison and Darick Robertson’s 2012 miniseries. In Happy!, Nick is a grizzled, beaten down hitman who ends up teaming up with a little girl’s imaginary friend called Happy that just so happens to have the appearance of a flying blue unicorn.

Previously, it was reported that RZA was to direct a big screen adaptation of Happy! as his next movie after The Man With the Iron Fists. Now, though, the adaptation is to head to the small screen and will be overseen by Grant Morrison and Crank’s Brian Taylor.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
