GAME OF THRONES Season 7 to Debut in Summer 2017

TV News

Earlier this month, we reported that Games of Thrones Season 7 may arrive a little later than usual, and now there’s confirmation on that.

HBO’s Casey Bloys has revealed that the new season will actually debut next Summer rather than the usual April season premiere. Bloys said, “Now that winter has arrived on Game of Thrones, executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss felt that the storylines of the next season would be better served by starting production a little later than usual, when the weather is changing. Instead of the show’s traditional spring debut, we’re moving the debut to summer to accommodate the shooting schedule.”

This follows on from the initial story earlier this month, with that report claiming that the weather was to play a part in the shooting schedule. After all, Winter is no longer coming – it’s here! That means that bleak weather is needed for shooting.

Season 7 of Game of Thrones will have its main production based in Northern Ireland, with additional elements to be shot in Spain and Iceland.

As previously revealed, there are only two more seasons of Thrones left before the show comes to an end, and each of those seasons will be only seven episodes rather than the usual ten.
