Cody Rhodes Lands ARROW Role

The CW’s Arrow has another new cast member ahead of its fifth season as Cody Rhodes has been revealed to have a role in the Stephen Amell-headlined show.

This past weekend’s Heroes & Villains FanFest saw both Amell and Rhodes confirm this news (as pictured), with the two having already battled before. For those unaware, Rhodes is a former WWE superstar, Whilst he left World Wrestling Entertainment in May, he actually had a tag team match against Amell at last year’s SummerSlam show. Under the guise of Stardust, Rhodes teamed with Wade Barrett against Amell and the high-flying Neville. That all came about because Rhodes and Amell engaged in some playful Twitter comments that then led to a match and even continued post-SummerSlam.

It's not known just what role Cody Rhodes will be taking in Arrow, but it’s believed that it will indeed be somebody who will be butting heads with the Green Arrow. Throughout his decade in the WWE, Rhodes became famous for being one of the company’s most dedicated performers who made a whole host of potentially-shoddy gimmicks work purely due to the amount of effort and all-in attitude he took to personas like “Dashing” Cody Rhodes (complete with excellent moustache) and the face-painted and bizarre Stardust. Still only 31, Rhodes is now working the independent wrestling scene complete with a to-do list of opponents that could and should lead to some dream matches for many grappling fans.

Rhodes is just the latest new addition for Arrow, with The Walking Dead’s Chad Coleman playing the villainous Tobias Church, Mr. Robot’s Rick Gonzalez as Wild Dog, and Sirens’ Josh Segarra as Vigilante.

Arrow returns to US screens on October 5th, with a UK return to follow shortly after that.
