Whilst sister-show Arrow has already announced several new cast members for its upcoming season, all has been relatively quiet for The Flash. Well, now the Grant Gustin-starring Scarlet Speedster show has brought in its first new addition ahead of its third season.

TV Line is reporting that Tom Felton, who famously played Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter franchise, has landed the role of series regular Julian Dorn. The character is described as a crime scene investigator who’ll be working alongside Barry Allen but also suspects that there’s more to Barry than just his good guy reputation.

We don’t know all that much about The Flash’s third season just yet apart from that it is seemingly going to be a loose adaptation of the fan-favourite Flashpoint comic book arc. In that story, Barry going back in time to save his mother from being killed leads to a modern-day world that is in the toilet; Barry himself has no superpowers; Bruce Wayne was killed that night in Crime Alley rather than his parents; Thomas Wayne became an alcoholic, brutal Batman; Martha Wayne became The Joker; Superman was captured upon landing on Earth, with him being kept as a military experiment for his whole life; Aquaman and Wonder Woman were at war with each other, throwing the planet itself into destruction; and Cyborg was the main hero in the world. And let’s face it, nobody really likes Cyborg!

Just how The Flash adapts this famed story remains to be seen, but the Season 2 finale saw Barry going back in time to save mother Nora from being killed by the Reverse-Flash, meaning we can expect some variation of Flashpoint to take place next season.

The Flash returns to US screens on October 4th, with a UK return hopefully following shortly after.
