Ready to add another to the list of Marvel properties on the small screen? We certainly hope so, for Cloak and Dagger are getting set to head to the realm of TV in the not-so-distant future.

Marvel Entertainment has revealed that the Freeform network, who are also developing a US take on Misfits, has placed a series order for Cloak and Dagger. At this early stage, the show is being described as a “superhero love story.”

On this news, Jeph Loeb, Head of Marvel TV, said, “We are thrilled to be able to explore another corner of the Marvel Universe with Cloak and Dagger. We want to thank Tandy and Tyrone’s fans everywhere who have been waiting for this exciting news.”

Of course, the Tandy and Tyrone of which he speaks are Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson. The series will focus on this pair as they learn to use their new superpowers, all whilst getting soppy and falling head-over-heels for one another. In terms of powers, Cloak is able to teleport himself and others, whilst Dagger has the ability to create life-sapping light daggers with her thoughts. The duo debuted back in 1982’s Peter Parker, the Spectacular Spider-Man #64, created by Bill Mantlo and Ed Hannigan.

This latest Marvel-based show joins Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., upcoming Mockingbird and Lance Hunter-driven spinoff Most Wanted, the Hayley Atwell-starring Agent Carter, pilot-ordered comedy Damage Control, FX's new X-Men show Legion, FOX's in-development X-Men villain-focussed Hellfire Club, then the Netflix-exclusive shows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders.

Cloak and Dagger is currently looking for a writer, but expect more on this latest Marvel TV offering as and when it develops.
