With NBC now developing the DC-based show Powerless, the show has brought in Vanessa Hudgens as its lead.

The 27-year-old actress, who rose to prominence in High School Musical, has landed the lead role of Emily Locke, “an insurance claims adjuster who loves helping people and keeping a low profile in order to get her work done, who faces increasing frustration with the destructive antics of superheroes in her city.”

Powerless, which will be made up of 30-minute episodes, is being described as a workplace comedy that’s set in the DC world. The attention will be on the regular, powerless employees of the worst insurance company in the USA. These regular sorts will have to deal with the chaos and destruction caused in a world inhabited with superheroes and villains.
