Not content with traumatising the country with their Xtreme Season, Horror Channel is pulling out the stops for a series of premieres on Friday Nights this January to keep the shivers running down the spines of viewers…

The fear begins on January 8th with the first network screening of Tom Savini’s remake of the seminal George A. Romero film Night of the Living Dead (1990). With horror icons Bill Moseley and Tony Todd in the starring roles, it’s a faithful and gory re-telling of the movie that started the whole zombie phenomenon.

The inventive and terrifying Panic Button (2011) screens on January 15th, while on January 22nd there’s the UK TV premiere of Texas Chainsaw, the 2013 ‘prequel’ to Tobe Hooper’s immortal Massacre. Moseley (who had appeared in the original film’s sequel in 1986) stars once more, with cameos from Gunnar Hansen (the original Leatherface) and Marilyn Burns (the first move’s ‘final girl’) - both who have since passed away.

There’s a chance to celebrate classic horror with the network premiere on January 29th of the superb Amicus anthology flick Dr Terror’s House of Horrors (1965). Starring the cream of British horror talent - Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, there’s an all-star supporting cast including Michael Gough, Donald Sutherland, and … erm… Roy Castle. Not only that, it’s directed by the legendary Freddie Francis, who was an award-winning cinematographer behind many great Hammer films, as well as David Lynch’s The Elephant Man.

You can find out more by heading to the Horror Channel website. Watch on Sky 319, Virgin 149, Freesat 138, or Freeview 70.
