As fans eagerly await the return of the Scarlet Speedster, The Flash has found itself a new cast member in the form of Michael Ironside.

The Hollywood Reporter has word on the casting, with the actor set to play Lewis Snart, who just so happens to be the father of Wentworth Miller’s Leonard Snart/Captain Cold and Peyton List’s Lisa Snart/Golden Glider. Ironside himself is no stranger to DC characters, having played Sam Lane on Smallville and even having voiced Batman in the fantastic Legends of the Dark Knight episode of the wondrous Batman: The Animated Series.

It’s believed that Ironside will make his debut in the third episode of The Flash’s Season 2, which is conveniently titled Family of Rogues. The description of Lewis Snart has him down as a “cold-blooded ruthless career criminal. Recently released from prison, he returns to Central City with a plan that will endanger both of his children.”

The Flash returns to US screens on October 6th, with a UK return expected to follow shortly after.
