Having been in development for a little while now, the upcoming Arrow/Flash spin-off has been given a first season order and also a title.

To be known as DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, the show will see some familiar faces teaming with several new ones and will debut later this year.

The official synopsis reads:

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-travelling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat – one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?

The cast of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow currently features Brandon Routh as The Atom, Victor Garber as Dr. Martin Stein, Wentworth Miller as Captain Cold, Dominic Purcell as Heat Wave, Arthur Darvill as Rip Hunter, Ciara Renee as Hawkgirl, Franz Drameh as Jay Jackson (believed to be the show’s take on either Cyborg, Black Lightning or Static Shock), and an unknown role Caity Lotz, who is Arrow’s believed-dead Sara Lance. As for the “unstoppable threat” that will be causing chaos in the show, some rumours suggest that this may end up being the immortal Vandal Savage.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.
