Dominic Cooper Lands PREACHER Lead

AMC’s PREACHER adaptation has finally found its lead in the form of Dominic Cooper. The actor, of course, is best known to many genre fans for playing Howard Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Executive producer Seth Rogen took to Twitter to confirm the news, saying, “We have Jesse Custer! Dominic Cooper is gonna save our souls. #Preacher”

The basic premise of PREACHER, which was published between 1995 and 2000, sees Custer, a preacher who’s losing his faith, merge with an entity called Genesis. Custer, accompanied by a rag tag bunch, sets out across country to hunt down God and find out why he abandoned his duties.

As well as Cooper, the series will also feature Ruth Negga as Custer’s trigger-happy ex-girlfriend Tulip, Joe Gigun as Irish alcoholic vampire Cassidy, Ian Colletti as the unique Arseface, and Lucy Griffiths as Emily Woodrow, a love interest created especially for the show. Additionally, this weekend has also brought news that Vyla Quinncannon, another new creation for the show despite sharing the name of an existing PREACHER character.

PREACHER is set to debut next year.
