With Marvel’s Netflix-exclusive shows starting to take shape, it’s been confirmed that Rachael Taylor has joined A.K.A. JESSICA JONES as Patsy Walker, better known to comic book fans as Hellcat. Taylor is best known to genre fans for appearances in TRANSFORMERS, SHUTTER and the doomed 666 PARK AVENUE.

The character of Patsy Walker debuted way back in 1944’s MISS AMERICA MAGAZINE #2, appearing for the next 20 years or so mainly in some of Marvel’s romance books. After a cameo in 1965’s FANTASTIC FOUR ANNUAL #3, the character was established in the Marvel 616 world before she would become a superhero of her own a decade later. As Hellcat she would also become a member of The Avengers at times. In A.K.A. JESSICA JONES, the character will be known as Patricia “Trish” Walker and will be a radio talk show host, former model and child TV star who her fans refer to as "Patsy" Walker. She’ll also be a close friend of the titular Jones and will assist in some of her more dangerous cases.

On Taylor’s addition to the show, executive producer and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg said, “The character is a star and a powerhouse, and require an actress who is both. Rachael is all that and more.”

Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb added, “Rachael’s ability to embody a character that must balance both the darker and lighter elements of our series will provide a perfect emotional anchor for JESSICA JONES. Rachael blew us away with her grounded, humanising take of Trish, adding yet another layer to the complex, emotional story we’re telling with this series.”

Taylor joins a cast that features Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Mike Colter as Luke Cage, and David Tennant as Kilgrave.

The 13-episode A.K.A. JESSICA JONES will debut towards the end of the year.
