Talks Begin Over an X-FILES Return

TV News

Some interesting information coming out of this weekend's TCA event is that FOX is in talks to bring THE X-FILES back to the small screen. FOX TV Group chairman Gary Newman revealed the information, adding that ideally they would bring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson back with the show if all goes ahead.

The original X-FILES show ran from 1993 to 2002, spanning 202 episodes. There were also two movies, one in 1998 and one in 2008. Additionally, the show would span plenty of spin-off comic books, video games, and a whole host more.

As ever, expect more on this as it develops.

I think a return to TV would be a good idea but it'd be nice to see some new agents discovering and uncovering the mysteries with Duchovny and Anderson doing the odd cameo. The latter's career is going great guns at the moment and I'm not sure she'd be interested in stepping back full time into the show which started it all for her. And it'd certainly be nice to have another more adult-oriented show as a change from the younger-skewing superhero-type shows which are either already on screen or on their way.
