Given how THE FLASH has been a hugely successful spin-off from The CW’s ARROW, many have wondered whether there are any more spin-offs to come out of the network’s Emerald Archer-based show. There’s been previous speculation that the likes of Huntress or Canary could get their own individual shows, but it appears that we could very well see Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer, aka The Atom, get his own show at some point in the future. The news has come out at today’s TCA event.

When asked about whether another ARROW spin-off show may happen, CW President Mark Pedowitz teased, “You have to be judicious. Could there be another hour in that universe? Possibly. That’s why we’re in preliminary discussion. It has to stand on its own legs.”

Executive producer Greg Berlanti was later asked about Routh’s Palmer possibly getting his own show at some point, to which he responded, “We’re in very early talks in a very general idea that we haven’t gone deeper on yet.”

When IGN then asked Routh himself about the possibility of headlining his own spin-of show, he replied, “With any character you bring on this show that’s a possibility, depending on how the fans react and the character is received and developed. You know they’ve shown with THE FLASH that just being a part of ARROW that it can work. It’s exciting. They sky’s the limit. DC and The CW have done a great job with the two shows and the platforms in terms of being their own entities. What the future holds, who knows? But anything is a possibility.”

Given how we’ve now seen Palmer working on his A.T.O.M. suit in ARROW and how The Arrow is seemingly dead, things could certainly get interesting for Routh’s character in the second half of the show’s Season 3 when it returns in a few weeks’ time. As for a spin-off show, expect more on that as and when it develops.
