With Cliff Curtis recently confirmed as one of the leads of AMC’s WALKING DEAD companion series, Deadline is reporting that Kim Dickens has now nabbed the female lead on the new show. Dickens is best known for turns in the likes of HOLLOW MAN, GONE GIRL, DEADWOOD, SONS OF ANARCHY, THANK YOU FOR SMOKING, ZERO EFFECT and, err, the FOOTLOOSE remake.

As for the character that Dickens will be playing, she is a guidance counsellor who is in a relationship with Curtis’ divorced teacher. She also has two children from a previous marriage, to be played by Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey. It’s already been played up that Dickens’ character’s past will come back to haunt her during this new show, currently titled COBALT.

To be set in Los Angeles, COBALT is looking to shoot its pilot episode, to be directed by Adam Davidson, early next year.
