In an interview with MTV to promote TRANSFORMERS 3, LaBeouf had this to say:
“I talked to Harrison. He said he’s staying in the gym. He said that he’s heard no word, but he does know that George is out there looking for a MacGuffin. But he said to me he’s staying in the gym, so that means it’s not so far off. Lucas has got to let it sit. He’s going through his ruminations, which is extensive.”
('George is out there looking for a MacGuffin' - anybody else picturing the flannel-shirted bearded one rocking a dusty fedora and bull-whip, navigating his way through treacherous jungle ruins? No? Just me then.)
Gotta admire LaBeouf’s positivity at least, but it doesn’t sound as ‘in the bag’ as he’s trying to spin it. He's always been brutally honest about his work, and has previously apologized for both CRYSTAL SKULL 'and' the last TRANSFORMERS outing. While promoting last year’s WALL STREET: MONEY NEVER SLEEPS, he had this to say in regards to SKULL:
"I feel like I dropped the ball on the legacy that people loved and cherished. We had major discussions. Harrison wasn't happy with it either. Look, the movie could have been updated. There was a reason it wasn't universally accepted. I'll probably get a call now [from Speilberg]. But he needs to hear this .... When you drop the ball you drop the ball."
Ouch. Calling out Lucas & Speilberg like that takes some large Sankara stones, and in a time of celeb opinion being neutered by their armies of managers and agents it's refreshing to hear - in fact I don't understand why this guy attracts so many haters.
So is a fifth INDIANA JONES simply wishful thinking on LaBeouf’s part, born of his personal dissapointment, or will we see Indy crack that bull-whip one more time? Having enjoyed CRYSTAL SKULL immensely myself (I’d easily place it above LAST CRUSADE at least – controversial, I know) the prospect of another outing for the iconic character is an exciting one indeed.
Just hope George Lucas can find that MacGuffin fast, what with Ford pushing 70, Lucas 67, and Speilberg 66, the clock's ticking. Because even I don't want to see LaBeouf in SON OF INDIANA JONES AND THE QUEST FOR YEAH, WHATEVER.

Horrific. But I only hope that there's no way they can do worse.
I wouldnt mind another installment, but just keep it current and exciting. Still love Harrison, so no changing him either, or making him into his own dad. Eww!
I think nostalga always keeps us coming back to these movies, but also can be the reason we stay away. We dont want one ton wreck the entire collection for us, do we?
