Seems that a remake of Mary Harron's excellent Bret Easton Ellis adaptation AMERICAN PSYCHO is on the cards, despite the film being little over 10 years old, widely acclaimed and an arguable improvement on the source material itself.
So why bother retelling it? We imagine that Lionsgate knows there's no franchise potential with the Christian Bale original (or its aforementioned Mila Kunis starring straight-to-video sequel), so why not hit the reboot button, set it in contemporary New York (!), amp up the horror, ditch the ambiguity and make sure they can spin another few movies out of it from the get-go! Ka-chiiing!
Sorry folks, but it doesn't look like there's any stopping this one - a screenplay by music video director Nobel Jones has already been handed in to the studio, and a greenlight awaits.
We'll have more on this as it develops. Unless you'd rather we pretended like it's not happening.
