21ST CENTURY TANK GIRL #1 - #3

For those who contributed certain amounts, 21st Century Tank Girl began as a beautiful hardback funded by Kickstarter, and it was one which was well worth the wait and pennies. Now, due to its success, the marsupial-loving punk returns for everyone to enjoy, from co-creators Alan Martin and Jamie Hewlett, among many other talented artists including Jim Mahfood and Brett Parson. 21st Century Tank Girl is a three-issue series that's as wonderfully vulgar as ever. The series starts with our steamrolling anti-heroine out of her favoured mode of transportation, but instead riding in a phallic-shaped rocket through space, courtesy of Hewlett. As is the way of Tank Girl and her mutant Kangaroo boyfriend Booga, they dismiss authority with profane anarchy, even when they're in space.

If you're not too familiar with the foul-mouthed, chain-smoking boozer, her adventures began in 1988 with her first publication in UK cult magazine Deadline. Since then Tank Girl has been a hit and gathered a cult following. It doesn't matter where it's set, it is always frolicsome and you won't encounter anything like it and most definitely no-one like Tank Girl. It's all thanks to Alan Martin, who has a talent for writing cynical wit, and Hewlett's edgy and gaudy art.

This three-issue series sees Tank Girl in various barmy situations, and each issue is a collection of short legendary tales following our jovial hooligan alongside her miscreant buddies. The stories are all penned by Martin with a different artist whom each bring a contrasting style yet manage to cultivate the colourful and chaotic world of Tank Girl. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or new to the tank-driving punk, it's a perfect comic to pick up and not worry about connecting storylines. 21st Century Tank Girl is rollicking fun and everything you want from a comic book of short adventures. Hopefully Martin and Hewlett with other talented minds and artists will continue the exploits of this loveable rogue.
