New Frontrunner to Headline Marvel's DOCTOR STRANGE

Movie News

With a Doctor Strange movie on the way, the big question on fans' lips is just who will play the Master of the Mystic Arts. Recent weeks have seen the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Johnny Depp, Jon Hamm, Jared Leto and Joaquin Phoenix just some of the names linked to the role. Now comes word of another apparent frontrunner. Step forward, Jack Huston.

This is Infamous has word that Huston is the latest name to be up for the Sorcerer Supreme gig. Huston is best known to most audiences for his appearances in AMERICAN HUSTLE, BOARDWALK EMPIRE and trippy horror SHROOMS. In terms of chops, Huston’s won plenty of admirers as Richard Harrow in HBO’s Steve Buscemi-starring BOARDWALK EMPIRE, whilst his appearance certainly has just a splash of the Johnny Depp about it. As a younger actor on the rise, Huston also wouldn’t command anywhere near as a big payday as some of the other names linked to Stephen Strange, which is another appealing aspect to Marvel Studios and Disney.

Whether this proves to just be a mere rumour, such as the other mentioned names seem to be, we’ll have to wait and see. What we do know is that SINISTER’s Scott Derrickson is already on board to direct DOCTOR STRANGE, with it suggested that the film will be released on July 8th, 2016.
