Soulmate

The scene that effectively banned the uncut version of Axelle Carolyn’s debut feature SOULMATE (as we reported on here) has been released online. As expected, it looks (and is) incredibly tame in comparison to the fare of standard modern horror movies where crimson torrents of blood and roping arcs of viscera are liberally sprayed across the screen to the unfettered delight of insatiable gorehounds. In a reminder of just how questionable the BBFC’s censorship decisions can be, despite SOULMATE not even being a distant cousin to such cornucopias of violence, it was still deemed unsuitable for the British viewing public, as if Mary Whitehouse wasn’t a name so consigned to the past that some people reading this will have to look up Wikipedia to see who I’m talking about.

Although the film can now technically be seen as was initially intended, it’s still annoying to have to watch a scene online before starting the film in order to do so, like an inverse of the unbelievably irritating ending of demonic possession found footage horror THE DEVIL INSIDE.

You can view the scene below to decide for yourself if it warranted removal. NSFW, naturally.

You must have the Adobe Flash Player installed to view this player.
