KING KONG Reboot Announced; Director JOE CORNISH in Talks

Englishman Joe Cornish has been targeted by Legendary Pictures to helm a newly announced big-screen King Kong reboot entitled SKULL ISLAND

Primarily known for his feature film directorial debut ATTACK THE BLOCK, Cornish wrote and directed this alien invasion with a group of mouthy juveniles at the centre of the action, and this unique approach is what has caught the gaze of Hollywood. Earlier this year, the comedian turned acclaimed filmmaker was reportedly in talks to direct the third STAR TREK entry (before series writer Robert Orci officially took over the project), but now with this wondrous opportunity placed on his lap, the chance of reintroducing Kong to an audience might just be the black-hole that Cornish finally explores.

Nothing has been confirmed as to whether he has accepted the job, but he is known to have avoided blockbusters in the not-so-distant past. Regardless of this, SKULL ISLAND is a completely different beast (incredibly hairier for that matter) and Cornish might be a fool not to snatch, or rather tear Legendary's arm off.

Legendary have scheduled SKULL ISLAND for a November 2016 release.
