Star Trek 3

JJ Abrams’ notorious reboot of the classic STAR TREK series is divisive to say the least. Leaving all cynicism aside, it has ushered in the next generation of TREK fans and, if nothing else, proved the continual relevance of Kirk, Spock, Bones et al.

While INTO DARKNESS was a cynical slice of here’s-what-the-fans-want, the third instalment looks set for redemption. The decision to put Robert Orci on first-time directorial duties was a reassuring one, and it's expected the next outing for Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto (which nicely coincides with the Franchise’s fiftieth) to be the most reflective of the original series yet. Yes, it’s set in deep space.

Speaking to the Humans from Earth Podcast, Orci revealed ‘In this movie they are closer than they are to the original characters that you have ever seen". He added that, "they have set off on their five year mission. So their adventure is going to be in deep space’.

So, how about giving the reboot one last chance?
