Movie News

It’s been a topic of discussion for the last few weeks, but it now appears that a new FLASH GORDON film is definitely happening. The Hollywood Reporter has word that 20th Century Fox has now secured the cinematic rights to the character.

The script is about to be worked on by Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne, a duo that are also penning the next STAR TREK movie. The pair will be adapting the previous draft compiled by THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU’s George Nolfi.

Originally created by Alex Raymond in 1934, the Flash Gordon character started life as a serialised comic strip. The intergalactic adventurer has since been given a whole host of comic book, small screen and big screen outings over the years, although the character is likely best known to most for Mike Hodges’ 1980 FLASH GORDON, starring Sam J. Jones and featuring a soundtrack from Queen.

Expect more on this as it develops.
