Paul Bettany Cast as The Vision

He might be best known as the charming chap who voices Tony Stark’s unsettlingly sentient AI Jarvis, but it looks as though Paul Bettany may end up double dipping come AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON if the reports of his playing The Vision pan out.

Though there is no official confirmation just yet, The Daily Mail reported (stick with us here) that Bettany had been spotted around Shepperton Studios this week for a meeting with director and pop culture chieftain Joss Whedon.

In the soul-destroyingly dense and convoluted Marvel universe, The Vision is an android created by soon-to-be cinematic big-bad Ultron to destroy all of hero-kind… except (minor spoiler) he has a change of consciousness or whatever it is Androids can actually have and turns to the sunny life of good. Time will tell how/if this plays out in the film and whether The Vision’s fabulous colour scheme will stay put (second spoiler: it won’t).

Bettany can next be seen starring in cinematographer-turned-director Wally Pfister’s directorial debut TRANSCENDENCE.

Further (altogether unsubstantiated ) reports suggest he was being tested for very pale make-up, therefore meaning no divine sunburnt face. Here's hoping that isn't true!

They can keep the colour scheme. Marvel haven't let us down thus far on keeping characters looking as they should. Well, OK, they didn't with Hawkeye but lets just blame Renboy for that, eh?
Vision looks cool as f**k! May he stay that way onscreen.
